BREAKFAST, MUHFUCKA!

A SHOT OF APPLE CIDER VINEGAR

GREEN SMOOTHIE

HUGE GLASS OF FRESHLY SQUEEZED ORGANIC ORANGE JUICE

BIG ASS HONEYCRISP APPLE

so…yep. that’s my breakfast. at 10:30. I’ve got class soon, totally told myself I’d work out twice today (early morning, then again at like 5 or 6).

I’m super pumped now, but when I first woke up …well…tried to wake up… at 7, I was not havin’ it. So I’m getting all this hydrating, energizing food in my face and just push it extra hard later tonight.

cool smoothie trick

so today, i made a smoothie for breakfast. and while smoothies tend to be healthy on their own, i have a few tips for making a smoothie a little healthier, and even a little less watery.

often times, when you order a smoothie from a drink bar, they use concentrated juices and syrups instead of real fruit, and just mix it with ice.

you can make a smoothie without any ice…or at least any frozen water.

what i tend to do is cut the tops off of my strawberries, throw them in a freezer-safe plastic ziptop bag and stick them in the freezer overnight. this way, instead of using ice cubes to add in that creamy texture of a frozen drink, the strawberries will add in the texture AND flavor. this is also great, because as the drink warms and melts slightly, it won’t start to taste watery.

the smoothie i made this morning consisted of:

about 5 or 6 large frozen strawberries (i tasted them before i froze them…SUPER sweet, which is important since we won’t be adding in sugar)

a handful of blueberries

a single-serving container of banana yogurt

a splash of orange juice

very intense fruity flavors. be careful with the orange juice, because you definitely need it to help the frozen strawberries blend up, but it tends to make the smoothie thin if you add too much…plus the orange flavor can overpower the flavors of the other fruits.
